INTRODUCTION 

Today's high performance in an organization  requires a combination of diverse skills, multiple perspectives, judgements and experiences.  This is more so in the world of ever increasingly change, uncertainties and complexity.  Organizations recognizes that, this kind of blend is best achieved through teamwork ing.  Effective and well functioning teams have been shown to be flexible and responsive to changing events and demands.  Teams are small enough to adjust to their approach to new informations, technology & challenges with greater speed accuracy and effectiveness than can large business units or divisions. The diversity arising from people with very different skills, experiences and personalities enriches the team; and  it is this mix of people working collaboratively that seems to make the difference.  It releases high energy & performance

What is High Performance

We are examining "Developing High Performance Teams"...... So, what exactly is high Performance? How do we measure performance?  Is it at The Organizational level, Team level or individual level?  The  goal is of course to achieve  high  performance as an Organization- but certainly to achieve this goal , high performance must be achieved at teams and individual levels.  To this end, performance must be measured and monitored at  The organizational, Team & individual levels.

In order to assess whether high performance is being  achieved either at Organizational, Team s or individual levels, we should examine  the characteristics of High Performance and look at how they can be measured. Whatever The Industry or sphere of business activity , High Performance Organizations demonstrates excellence in three (3) key areas often called Performance Criteria  that leads to superior customer value, profitability and and sustainable competitive advantage.  These 3 key areas are as follows:

1- Innovation:  The creative thinking or initiating something that is new. It may be the generation of new ideas, or the application of new ideas; or it may be the deployment of new technologies.

2. Agility : The business environment is never static..... Today, more than ever before businesses are subjected to continuous changes and at a very past pace. New opportunities emerge and existing business areas often threatened by new & unforeseen risks. Technological advances are being made at a phenomenal pace; and the winners are those that can embrace these changes fastest.   High performance organizations therefore must be agile- swift to respond to market changes or customer requirement. They are able to transform , innovate  & respond to changes in the environment.  Teams are proven means by which organizations can achieve agility  embracing the challenges at hand and exploiting new opportunities swiftly. Small empowered teams can be flexible and far more responsive to change more easily & effectively than larger units, or divisions in the organization.

3. Execution:  Execution is the capability to get from the baseline ( where the organization is now), to the desired state.
